Description
In 2271 the USS Enterprise was selected to be the second test bed that would reshape the Federation Starfleet as we knew it. The Next 18 months this ship was rebuilt from the ground up. Overall nearly 66% of the ship was basically of new additions. The Enterprise was the first ship to incorporate an inline Warp Core feeding a pair of Linear Warp Nacelles. Although the new warp core created the necessity of building a Dilithium Crystal chamber that can become hazardous compared to early warp reactors that provided a safer interface to effect repairs. Early refits suffered the same occurrence of weapon systems tied in to the Warp Engines but several modification later would overcome this problem. The increased output made the sub class a very powerful Cruiser compared to the original Constitution class. New improved sensor arrays as well as a additional 12 phaser banks, as well as improved shielding. The addition of docking ports throughout the ship made it more accessible compared to earlier Constitution class ships as well. A total of 20 ships were refitted, and an additional 7 ships built based on the new linear design. It would also spawn the refit, and rebuilding of the entire Starfleet.
The USS Discovery NCC-1798 was the first new builds of the Enterprise Sub class. Commanded by Captain James Murphy, and his First Officer Commander Candice Mathis, their first 5 Year mission would prove the the new Constitution Refits were as if more capable than the predecessors original configuration. The Discover was not as decorated as the Enterprise yet made 17 first contacts, as well solving 12 diplomatic missions in it's first 5 years. The Discovery would serve into the 24th Century, when retired she was moth balled as a test bed. She was the first Constitution class to upgrade to Isolinar chips in 2340, yet was not placed in service. The Discovery is in Museum service at Utopia Planatia.</b>
