Captain Vanessa Yates

My first OC ever, she even pre-dates having DAZ|Studio to render her.

On January 29, 2005, Cadet Vanessa Ann Yates made her debut on the Exploratory Crews of the Federation.  She began posting on the USS Nebuchadnezzar, for the next 9 years she would climb to the rank of Commander, and finally reach Captain, and command the USS Pioneer.  But between there, and herer, there is so much more.

V.J. as she was affectionately known as, as well as Yaters, would serve in 3 different fleets, only commanding 3 vessels, and reaching the lofty rank of Fleet Admiral.  The sad fact is she's been everywhere, and been the same pain in the ass to her commanding officers.  Even Jenn Nadire knows how many times she came close to ruining her story line.  Yet all that Star Trek technobabble in her head was surely frustrating to more then just Captain Nadire.  In the UF (United Forces) she would make First Officer on the USS Expedition, and once again step on her Captains toes.  His reply to that....Destroy the ship...and so went the USS Expedition, as well her crew, and Yates commission.  So upset the crew of the Expedition...The made her an ENTIRE FLEET!

The fact is on November 6, 2006.  Once Commander Yates, became Admiral Yates, and Commander of the 14th Fleet.  Confusing isn't it.  In her 11 years she has been married twice, had 2 children (only one made Canon after retcon), and selected the first Orion as a starship Captain.  Yates been a busy girl, so by 2007, her history had to be compressed.  Sure her ECF Character remained intact, but in the end her ties with now all three defunct RPG's gives us this.

 Only OC to marry, have children, and keep her last name (Love Betazoid weddings).

In the end, she was my first, and always well be my first.  If I had to do it all over, she would of been Orion, but then there wouldn't of been Candela, and aren't you glad I kept both?

So which Vanessa Yates is this one?  This is all of them.  Well the UF version with the ECF background, to lead into the GF (Generation Fleet) Canon.  This means she Posted out of the Academy on the USS Nebuchanezzar.  By 2370's she was selected by Captain Edward Smythe to become his First Officer on the USS Expedition.  Shortly after the war, a routine diplomatic mission goes wrong, and Captain Smythe dies.  The result is she is promoted to Captain.  This begins her 7 years as Captain of the Expedition and her adventures in the Delta Quadrant.  The Battle for Deep Space 10 would be the end of her Command as she rammed the Expedition into an attacking force thus saving the Space Station and all the inhabitants.  After a lengthy rest, she was promoted to Admiral, and given command of Starbase 140 in the Beta Quadrant, where she would effectively become the Commander of the 14th fleet.
