Description

The following months, Kara would fit in at Midvale Orphanage and form friendships with fellow orphans as well as classmates from the local high school. During this time, she continued to train time to time with Princess Diana, as well a few occasional visits from her cousin. Kal-El assured her he was close to retrieving what information was on the shattered crystal, and in due time he would reveal her to the world. Despite this, Kara had used her abilities a number of time to anonymously avert disasters and save lives, something that hadn't gone unnoticed by Kal-El who asserted to her to be more careful. For the meantime, her uniform was not used in these incidents which she has made sure her identity was well hidden. She also had met with several perspective families for adoption. The fact she was now 17 on records didn't hold well or her, except one couple had seemed to take a vested interest in her. It was one afternoon she was called down to headmaster Dixon office. Arriving, she was surprised to see Fred and Edna Danvers. She took a seat next to them as they faced Mr. Dixon at his desk.

“Linda, this is a proud moment for the orphanage, as well yourself. As you have been told, usually the younger orphans get the privilege of adoption, yet Mr. and Mrs. Danvers have taken quite an interest in you.” he states with a smile. “They have a question they would like to ask you.”

Linda turns to them as Fred seemed a bit apprehensive as he hesitated a moment. “Linda...we would like you to be...our daughter.” he states.

Linda was stunned, as her eyes welled up with tears, and gave them both a loving embrace. “Yes...I would love to be part of your family.” she responded.

Kara was now Linda Lee Danvers, as she settled into her life as their daughter in Midvale where she could complete her final year of high school. She had become a well-rounded young woman, as well as a typical teenage girl. The Danvers taught her how to drive; as well she continued her friendship as well as relationships she had developed. All the while she continued to keep her secret of her true nature. If anything, the Danvers were somewhat concerned that she never talked much about her parents. Even when she did she was cautious, not letting out too much which seemed somewhat secretive on her part. None the less, the couple did not pressure her for she was flawless as a daughter could be in their eyes, and they truly loved her. One evening she was out in the backyard using the telescope scanning the star filled sky. Edna and Fred would watch afar from the rear door with warm smiles, until Fred decided to join her. As he approached, Linda appeared lost into scanning the heavens.

“Looks like you are looking for something you lost.” he says.

Linda looks to him with her deep blue eyes with a smile. “Yes and no. The universe is so vast one can get lost in it.”

Fred was a bit apprehensive on where to go from here as he asks. “You know, we are here to help you honey, no matter what.”

“I know that dad...it's just...” she hesitates as she answers.

“Listen sugar, I know one day you will tell us more about your life before the orphanage. I am not rushing you. Just...don't lock us out.”

Linda seemed to sense his feelings as she gave him an embrace. “I don't mean to lock you and mother out, it's just...right now is not the time, dad. But I promise, when the time is right I will tell you and mom everything.”
