It was May 1964, and David outs was the Honorary Guest as they threw a Party for his 70th Birthday. It was a big celebration as the now retired Editor and Chief of the Centennial Ridge Gazette enjoys the best wishes of former employees, friends and public officials.

Davis was a Veteran of the Great War, it was then he got his nickname Lead Bottom when he was shot in the buttock by friendly fire. the problem was exasperated in 1929 when a gun fight outside of the Gazette had him shot again in the other cheek. It wasn't until 1931 he became the Editor at age 37. He was hard nose, angry, and treated his employees like...well...employees. despite his gruff and mean exterior, he had a soft spot for one thing, and that was the Black Spider. Since the second shooting he believed that the Gangsters should be exterminated, and vigilantes such as the lack Spider were in his eyes...a HERO. His Editorials would sing the praises of the Vengeful Specter, a title he gave him (according to him at least). But in 1936 he heard about a Heroine in Angel Falls, named Amazonia.

he ore he heard, the more he despised about the Goddess of Justice. He looked at her as a wannabe. Someone who was more suited to preparing dinner then crime fighting. Despite her strength, ad abilities she could never drop the hammer like the Black Spider could. But it was this day he reflect back on May 26th 1938. He just received pictures from this Photographer who he couldn't remember his name. Mild mannered man, that he underpaid for his work. He did phenomenal photography though. He kept him on the payroll because he had a knack of always being at the scene first, and actually gettying a few shots of the Black Spider. But one day he called from Angel Falls. He nearly blew his top when he called and fired him, but he gave up a story that would rock the underworld. The Mason was dead, and he had the complete story, as well he would send pictures.

When the pictures arrived he was impressed yet he had none of the Black Spider, but one of Amazonia. At first he was angered and ready to fire him as soon as he returned. But he gazed at the picture, and the more he gazed, the more forgiven he became. So forgiven, he gave the shutter bug a bonus, and a raise. His mind would slowly accept Amazonia for who she was. She was a hero, and even when the McCarthyism was at his peak, he publicly supported her, putting himself on the Black list, but he didn't care. He held on to that photo taken at Pier 13 in the Dock District. He considered it an honor to whoever this B. Kovacs were. But then again, old Lead Bottom could barely remember whats his wife name was at that age.
